History tells us something extraordinary: it doesn’t take a majority to move history. Political scientist Erica Chenoweth found that when just 3.5% of a population actively and persistently participates in nonviolent action, change becomes unstoppable.

In other words, transformation doesn’t begin when “everyone” joins. It begins when a committed few refuse to stay silent. A small, determined fraction of people — organized, sustained, and united — has repeatedly proven strong enough to shift the course of nations.

Change has never required all of us. It has required enough of us who are willing to show up.
